L’été à Paris : Week 7

I am almost finished with my internship but I can never be finished with Paris. There is always more to see, to do, another layer to unravel in this city.

The week before my last week was spent working, exploring and catching up with old friends. Monday and Tuesday were spent working and Wednesday I met up with Mélissa, a friend from Avignon (and from middle school) who I stayed with last summer. The summer sales started this week and even the pharmacies have products on sale. The main shopping streets are always filled with people now. I spent the day taking pictures of Saint-Germain des Près for the blog, and found lots of hidden courtyards and passageways.

Thursday was a rainy day but Davis and I made the best of it by walking around the Marais and going to a café/restaurant suggested by Maud (pictured below) called Le Loir dans la Théière.

The Musée d’Orsay was having an event that night complete with tours and live jazz music. There is always something going on in Paris !

Friday was spent getting ready for Friday night (with a quick pit stop to Centre Pompidou to check out the modern art). We celebrated one of the students on the trip’s birthday at a club and needless to say, my new 20 euro Forever 21 heels did not stay on all night.

Saturday night we visited Vaux-le-Vicomte by candlelight, a castle an hour or so from Paris which was the envy of Louis XIV and inspired him to build Versailles. When it finally got dark, we drank champagne and watched the fireworks! Not a bad Saturday…

Sunday Davis and I visited the Musée de l’Orangerie and spent the rest of the day walking along the Seine before mentally preparing for our last week!

Until next time…
